While iBi is a school for the serious Bible student seeking to serve the true and living God, it is not restricted to just present or future Christian workers. iBi stresses the need to work with the individual and to help him or her to grow in the grace and knowledge of God. iBi offers a variety of courses leading to various qualifications [degrees], most of which you can study singly or combine with others to obtain a qualification [degree or diploma]. Whether you take a single course or work toward a qualification, iBi is ready to help you study the Scriptures. At iBi we are teaching some of the greatest truths about God as seen in the Bible, yet always in a way that any Christian can understand. In order to meet the needs of such a diversity of students, our curriculum has three distinct levels of learning:
The ultimate goal of iBi is to offer a complete Bible study programme that not only gives the average Christian greater knowledge of our Lord but also will provide the means to prepare and equip those called to full or part-time Christian ministry. Graduates of iBi will be equipped to meet the demands of the ministry to which God has called them. Founded in 1999, we began teaching local Bible institutes and churches. In 2000 we released our first course as part of a plan to offer Bible courses to those seeking a non-formal programme or curriculum. iBi has now expanded its curriculum and begun a formal school programme by releasing an expanded curriculum in stages. By the end of 2003 we are offering the first modules of study for Level 2 and Level 3. Our mission is to enable the serious Christian to increase his or her ability to understand the Mind of our God. For
who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him? But we have
the mind of Christ.
1
Corinthians 2:16 iBi
bases all of its materials on the literal, historical, grammatical
interpretation of the Bible as demonstrated by Ezra in Nehemiah 8.
Therefore, we teach a literal six, 24-hour day creation of the
universe as well as the future literal kingdom of the Lord Jesus Christ,
as King of kings, which lasts for one thousand years upon this earth. You select the level of difficulty and intensity based upon your goals and/or desired qualifications. each iBi course contains lessons/blocks which reflect these parameters. The amount and intensity of student work will depend upon the level chosen. Hence, some courses consist of lectures [audio or written] and interactive tutorials while others consist of a workbook syllabus used in parallel with the student’s studies in the course textbook(s). Courses at all levels have homework assignments that may or may not include examinations. Study
at Your Own Pace and Level of Difficulty Courses singly or a complete programme – the student chooses. Students may take a single course or as many as they desire. They do not have to be part of a formal degree programme. He or she can custom design their programme based upon the depth of study they desire and the goals of that study. If after taking some of the individual courses, the student desires to work toward a qualification, their previous work can be applied toward that qualification/degree. All courses use the following basic methodology: The student sets his/her own pace for taking the course between the start time and end time. Individual Level 1 and Level 2 courses are allotted 1 year from start. Each lesson block will include assigned reading in the textbook(s) and in the Bible. Additionally there are either written or audio lectures. After completing each block there are written assignments and/or assessment examinations. A typical course syllabus may consists of any of the following; outlines, study guides, interactive studies, word studies, writing in verses, filling in blanks, and answering questions. These worksheets are not submitted for grading as they are designed to help the student learn and retain the concepts being taught in the Bible, textbook(s), and lecture. Additionally, they prepare the student for the written homework assignments. Only homework assignments and examinations [not all courses have examinations] are returned to the school for grading. Availability of Course Materials All Level 1, many Level 2, and some Level 3 courses are available directly on the Internet and may be downloaded. All Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 materials are available by mail. Level 2 materials by mail will incur additional costs for syllabi materials and postage charges. Many courses include audio MP3 lectures included in the "per Credit Unit" cost. The student will need MP3 capability such as a computer with Windows Media Player or RealPlayer®, or a DVD capable of playing MP3, or a CD player capable of MP3 formatted discs. Note, not all CD players play MP3. Information on obtaining MP3 players. The student has 12 months to complete each individual course. If more time is required, a written request must be submitted for an extension. Extensions are given under reasonable circumstances. It is recommended that each Level 1 and Level 2 course be completed within two to four months. Typically, Level 1 and Level 2 courses consist of 8 to 10 lessons per course. Level 3 courses are of greater length, intensity, and difficulty. Textbooks are available either through the Internet Bible Institute or other Christian sources. All courses require a Bible and usually one textbook. Each course will list additional resources that the student may find helpful during the course of study and which will form a foundational library for the student. All Scripture quotations, unless noted otherwise, are from the Authorized Version. Some guest lecturers may use the New American Standard Bible, but all iBi produced material will use the AV. Assessment is an essential part of teaching. The student needs to understand areas requiring improvement. Additionally comments and marking of your homework and examinations enables your tutor to give you personalized help in understanding the materials of the course. Such assessments are based primarily upon the student’s understanding of the material and his or her ability to communicate that understanding. Performance levels and requirements are clearly stated at the start of each course. Examinations, when required, are designed to determine the student’s understanding rather than to test the student’s memory or ability to recall facts and figures. Assessment/grading Scale: A = Outstanding = 92-100 B = Excellent = 85-91 C = Average = 77-84 D = Below Average = 70-76 F = Failing = 69 and below Course Credits & Graduation Requirements iBi uses a system of Course Credits Points to guide you concerning the ... § extent of material taught within the course § number of blocks or teaching sessions § level of difficulty of the material § completion requirements § extent of student effort required to complete the course requirements § depth of study A student taking a specific programme must complete a minimum number of Credit Points in order to qualify for a diploma or degree. Successful completion of each course earns credit points toward qualification/graduation at the Internet Bible Institute. Credit points do not reflect the actual hours of lectures.
Students may take any course desired and need not be part of a certificate/degree program. Additional
Student Opportunity – Non- Credit Point Learning - Auditing
Additionally, students may take any of our classes and
avoid assessments and assignments by taking the individual course as a
Non-Credit Point [audit] option. Non-Credit Point/Audited
classes are those in which the student attends/listens to lectures and
receives all course material, but does not have to do the homework,
complete assignments, or take examinations. |
