We
begin our study with the subject of the Bible because our faith is based upon
what this book says. If the Bible is a lie then Christianity is a lie and our
faith is unfounded and in vain. It is vitally important that we establish in our
own minds that the Bible is true, and therefore can be trusted.
In this lesson we will discover
how the Bible answers these three important questions: - What does the Bible
claim to be? - What did Bible characters think of the Bible? and - What
evidences, support the claim that the Bible is God's Book?
What
does the Bible claim to be?
The
Bible claims to be "God's word", God's special revelation to mankind;
a letter from God to man.
I
Thessalonians 2:13 For this cause also thank we God without
ceasing, because, when ye received the word of God which ye heard of us, ye
received it not as the word of men but as it is in truth, the word of God.
which effectually worketh also in you that believe.
What
did Jesus think of the Bible?
Matthew
4:4 But he answered and said. It is written, Man shall not live by bread
alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
John
17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is
truth.
Matthew
22:29 Jesus answered and said unto them. Ye do err not knowing the
scriptures, nor the power of God.
Luke
24:25-27 Then he said unto them, 0 fools, and slow of heart to believe all
that the prophets have spoken: Ought not Christ to have suffered these things,
and to enter into his glory? And beginning at Moses and all the prophets, he
expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning himself.
